Juan Miguel Echevarria Highlights Long Jump Field at London Diamond League MeetingBy Adam Kopet Juan Miguel Echevarria will long jump at the Muller Anniversary Games, London's Diamond League meeting, scheduled for July 21-22, according to Prensa Latina. Echevarria, the 19-year old from Cuba, has been on fire this year. He won the long jump at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in March. Competing outdoors, Echevarria has a wind-legal best jump of 28-5 (8.66m) in Ostrava. Three days earlier in Stockholm, he jumped a wind-aided 28-11.75 (8.83m). Echevarria now ranks 10th on the all-time list. His big jump in Stockholm was the ninth-best jump ever in any conditions. If Echevarria can remain healthy and motivated in the coming months and years, the world record of 29-4.50 (8.95m) could be in jeopardy. |
